Adopt-A-Family of the Palm Beaches, Inc. kicks off their “Hope Begins with a Home” affordable housing capital campaign with a $1,000,000 gift from a private donor. The funding will support the soon-to-be-built Third Avenue Homes development in Lake Worth, which will provide housing to 14 families and their children who are homeless, or at risk of becoming homeless. The $1,000,000 gift, along with other contributions, is an amazing start to the campaign which has a goal of $6,600,000.
“This extremely generous gift will make an impact on generations of children and families. It could not come at a better time for our community,” said Matthew Constantine, CEO of Adopt-A-Family. “We are forever grateful for this donor’s gift and their faith in us to put families on the path to self-reliance and offer children a stable future.”
To provide families with a successful path to self-sufficiency, families residing in the Third Avenue Homes will pay approximately half of the market rate for their rent and parents will participate in programs including financial literacy, computer literacy, parenting classes and mental health counseling if needed. Children will have access to tutoring, mentoring, and Adopt-A-Family’s Project Grow program, an after-school educational program for kindergarten through fifth grade.
For the past two decades, Adopt-A-Family has received nationwide recognition for its programs and management. The Florida Redevelopment Association recognized the charity with the prestigious Roy Kenzie Award for Outstanding Affordable Housing Project. Charity Navigator, the largest charity evaluator in America, awarded Adopt-A-Familywith a four-star rating for the eleventh consecutive year in 2017, which has only been achieved by 1% of the charities evaluated by Charity Navigator.
