Adopt-A-Family of the Palm Beaches, Inc. invites everyone to save the date for its signature holiday event, the 34th annual Tree Lighting Celebration, scheduled for Tuesday, December 4, 2018. This year’s festive event will be chaired by Brenda McGarrity, co-chaired by Jen Dudnyk, and held at the Sailfish Club, 1338 N. Lake Way in Palm Beach.
Tickets to Adopt-A-Family’s largest and longest running event can be purchased for $350 per person.
The Tree Lighting Celebration raises funds to support the programs the organization brings to thousands of families each year and continues to be a highlight of the Palm Beach holiday social calendar.
Last year, the charity’s legendary silent auction was the focal point of the cocktail hour, with the most talked about display of live orchids on the island, gorgeous holiday decorating pieces, and unique gifts. During dinner, guests have the opportunity to bid on luxurious prizes.
The evening is also an opportunity for guests to connect with the spirit of the holiday season and the mission of Adopt-A-Family. At the 2017 Tree Lighting Celebration, a courageous client shared her story about how she fell into homelessness, telling guests that “everything was fine, until it wasn’t.” Adopt-A-Family embraced her family, providing housing, and making it possible for her children to complete high school, enter college, and join the Marines. The client herself has gone on to complete her education and is now employed and self-sufficient. As she shared her gratitude for the charity’s support, she told the crowd, “Adopt-A-Family is everything.”
Highlighting the evening is always the lighting of Adopt-A-Family’s “Angel Tree,” which represents all the “angels” who have given and supported the organization’s mission of assisting families in achieving independence.
Adopt-A-Family has received national recognition for its programs and management. The Florida Redevelopment Association recognized the charity with the prestigious Roy Kenzie Award for Outstanding Affordable Housing Project. Charity Navigator, the largest charity evaluator in America, awarded Adopt-A-Family with a four-star rating for the 11th consecutive year in 2017, which has only been achieved by 1 percent of qualified charities.
