#WaterparkWednesday – Float your worries away at Calypso Bay

A perfect summer day is when the sun is shining, the breeze is blowing, the birds are singing, and the lawn mower is broken. — James Dent

As the days heat up, it’s time to head to the water park for a refreshing dip in the lazy river, followed by thrilling rides down the water slides, pick up an afternoon snack at the concession stand and enjoy catching some rays on a sunny lounge chair.

Where can you do this? Right in your own backyard? Maybe not, but perhaps you’d have better luck at nearby Calypso Bay Waterpark in Royal Palm Beach!

Calypso Bay is one of two waterparks that are a part of the Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department. Located off of Southern Boulevard, just west of 441 on Lamstein Lane, it does not have the massive attractions of more spectacular water parks, but its convenient location, affordable price, and wide variety of amenities makes it perfect for a refreshing summer afternoon.

Guests can enjoy two four-story water slides with bold curves and sharp dips. Truth be told, though; one of the slides has a 120 pound weight limit!

The park also features a lily pad walk that is just as challenging for teens as it is for children; and guests of all ages can enjoy unlimited floating in the park’s 900 foot lazy river. A lap pool with diving boards for serious swimmers is also on site, and tiny tots will enjoy the children’s water playground with bubblers, tire swings, miniature water slides, water cannons, and more.

Their sister park, Coconut Cove, is located in the Burt Aaronson South County Regional Park. It is basically the same layout, but instead of the lap pool with diving boards, their pool is more recreational in nature.  The waterparks are now open for the 2016 season!
