Boynton Beach offers fall art programs for kids

The City of Boynton Beach Recreation and Parks Department is proud to offer exciting fall art programs for children in the community! Art classes and creative activities have countless benefits for growing kids. Art aids in development, visual learning and is a great outlet for kids to express themselves.

Through a series of workshops taking place on Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Intracoastal Park Clubhouse, children ages 8-14 can explore and reveal their personal drawing and sketching talents. Each workshop incorporates basic Still Life training, which introduces children to line, shape, value and composition.  For the next upcoming workshop which runs from Sep. 30 through Nov. 4, students will discover how to sketch their favorite animal or pet. The last fall workshop introduces color and takes place Nov. 11 through Dec. 16. Students will be inspired by nature to complete their drawing and learn the difference between warm and cool colors.

Claying Around is a pottery class for children ages 8-14 that takes place at the Boynton Beach Art Center on Saturday mornings from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Kids will love creating shapes such as bowls, flowerpots and cylinders! Each student will bring home a minimum of three fired or glazes pieces. The next fall session of Claying Around takes place from Oct. 21 through Dec. 16.

I Love Art will be back for the holiday season for children ages 5-10 on Saturday mornings from 10:30 a.m. to noon at Intracoastal Park Clubhouse. The program presents an exciting and different approach to art; all projects are completed using recycled materials! I Love Art is a unique way for kids to “go green,” be creative and help save our planet. The program begins Nov. 11 and goes through Dec. 16.
