The new fall season of public programs kicks off in September at the Children’s Science Explorium in Boca Raton. From Squishy Circuits and Ooey Gooey Science to Solar Systematics, it is the perfect place to “get your science.” Also, premiering October 1st, the Explorium will show off their amazing new traveling exhibit, When the Earth Shakes, which focuses on how scientists make our world safer in preparation for earthquakes.
Programming includes Early Afternoon Explorers, a monthly program that allows home-schoolers the opportunity to participate in fun, social and hands-on activities on an educational topic. (next date is Mon, Sept 11) and Explorium Science Squad, where kids work as a team to discover something remarkable (next program: Tues, Sept 5 & Wed, Sept 6). During Friday Night at the Museum, kids enjoy access to the Explorium “after hours” plus pizza, a movie, and a themed experiment. This drop-off program gives parents a night out as well. (next event is Fri, Sept 9).
Sign up for a full season (September-January) in one transaction for Early Afternoon Explorers, Explorium Science Squad or Friday Night at the Museum and receive a free Science Explorer Kit, featuring a lunch bag, five different science experiments, and an Explorium pencil.
Other programs include:
· New this year, Expedition: Sugar Sand Park Science Playground, gives children ages 5-12 an opportunity to experience the scientific principles found within the Sugar Sand Park Science Playground. (next program is Sat, Sept 9)
· On the first Sunday of every month, kids can build something fantastic (from pH paintings to earthquakes in a bottle) to take home (next date is Sun, Sept 4) at the Make & Take Program.
· Weekends mean free Science Stories shared by the staff (every weekend) and the monthly Weekend Demos, where audience participation is needed to dig a little deeper into exciting scientific principles (next program: Sept 17 & 18).
On September 30, the Explorium will unveil a new hands-on traveling exhibit called When the Earth Shakes. This exhibit allows guests of all ages to witness the effects earthquakes have on our planet through interactive exhibits such as 16’ tsunami tank, a shake table, a tectonic puzzle, and more. The Explorium is offering an exclusive sneak peek of this exhibit on Friday, September 29 from 7-9pm. Guests can take part in demonstrations; learn about upcoming programs, and more. When the Earth Shakes will show at the Children’s Science Explorium through January 7.
