The Everglades Foundation announced today that legendary American television journalist, author and talk show host, Katie Couric will serve as host for the 9th Annual Foreverglades Benefit at The Breakers Palm Beach on Saturday, February 15, 2014.
Alongside her, famed actor, conservationist, and fly fisherman, Michael Keaton will be serving as the foundation’s Honorary Chair. GRAMMY award winners, and as previously announced, the Zac Brown Band will perform as the musical headliner wowing the crowds with their top hits featuring traditional country, Caribbean rhythms, and R&B.
Katie Couric is the host of Katie, a daily syndicated daytime talk show that premiered in September 2012. She is an award-winning journalist and TV personality, well-known cancer advocate, and New York Times best-selling author of The Best Advice I Ever Got: Lessons From Extraordinary Lives.
In November 2013, Couric joined Yahoo as Global Anchor, where she will help develop Yahoo News’ coverage, report on live events, and anchor groundbreaking interviews with major newsmakers. Couric has also served as a special correspondent for ABC News, contributing to ABC World News, Nightline, 20/20, Good Morning America, This Week, and primetime news specials. She joined the Disney/ABC Television Group in August 2011.
In September 2006, Couric joined CBS News and became the first female solo anchor of an evening news broadcast. On May 21, 2006, Couric completed a 15-year run as co-anchor of NBC News’ Today Show.
Couric is co-founder of Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C), co-founder of the National Colorectal Cancer Research Alliance (NCCRA) with the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) and Lilly Tartikoff, and co-founder of the Jay Monahan Center for Gastrointestinal Health.
Michael Keaton, is an American actor famously known for his roles as the title character of Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice, and Batman/Bruce Wayne in both Batman and Batman Returns.
Keaton has also appeared in several other films including Clean and Sober, Jackie Brown, Mr. Mom, Night Shift, Pacific Heights, and has also provided the voiceover for Pixar’s Toy Story 3 and Cars.
Scheduled for a 2014 release, Keaton will star alongside Emma Stone, Naomi Watts and Zach Galifianakis in Birdman. He is also starring in the upcoming thriller Penthouse North with Michelle Monaghan.
Keaton is an avid fisherman and can be seen on the Outdoor Channel for his fishing series, Buccaneers & Bone, along Tom Brokaw, Zach Gilford, Thomas McGuane and Yvon Chouinard.
The Zac Brown Band, consisting of – Zac Brown, Jimmy De Martini, John Driskell Hopkins, Coy Bowles, Chris Fryar, Clay Cook, and Daniel de los Reyes join a diverse lineup of artists who have performed at previous ForEverglades Benefits including Jimmy Buffett, Kenny Chesney, Dave Matthews, Sting, John Mellencamp, ZZ Top, Gloria Estefan, and Diana Ross.
