Crawl your way through the holiday season on Clematis

For several years now, the place to see and be seen has been Clematis Street. This pleasantly named boulevard in the center of downtown West Palm Beach is a mecca for some of the most unique drinking and dining establishments in the Palm Beaches. It is the place where the young urban professionals go to unwind, and also where older and less urban individuals go to hang out.

Recently, it has also become the place where zombies, Santa, Harry Potter and the fashionably challenged show up to visit bar after bar.

No, it isn’t the end of the world (or is it?) These hipsters are taking part in what is known as a pub crawl. Organized by groups such as the downtown development authority and others, these happening events give locally owned and operated eateries a chance to expose themselves to new clientele, and provide participants a chance to expand their culinary horizons.

“The whole point of this event is to bring people together,” stated SantaCon West Palm Beach organizer Carlyle Tiller. “I help the local bars by bringing them 400 people. Maybe a few of the Santas have never been to some of the bars and I can help bring the bars new business.  With this idea, the bars and restaurants are able to offer discounted prices in addition to their donation that they have given to our charity.”

Recent participants have included O’Sheas, Duffy’s, Jardin, Bar Louie, ER Bradley’s, Banko Cantina and more!

So, if you’re looking for a unique way to experience some of the fun stuff the Palm Beaches have to offer, keep an eye out for the next pub crawl. Who knows? You might find a new favorite restaurant!
