The Cultural Council of Palm Beach County today announced that a sold-out crowd of 200 supporters attended this season’s third CULTURE & COCKTAILS conversation. It was held last night at The Colony Hotel Coral Ballroom, located at 155 Hammon Avenue in Palm Beach.
With the focus on Classic Film, Fine Wine & High End Design, the fascinating, often humorous conversation was with Charles S. Cohen, President/CEO of Cohen Brothers Realty Corporation, which owns 12 million square feet of commercial real estate in Manhattan and design centers in NYC, Southern California, Houston and South Florida (DCOTA in Dania Beach). He also heads Cohen Media Group, which produces and distributes Oscar-winning films (Timbuktu, The Salesman).
During his interview with Dr. David Breneman, President & CEO of The Society of the Four Arts, Cohen discussed his various ventures including restoring the classic Quad Cinema in Greenwich Village and the world famous La Pagode cinema in Paris, and his ongoing efforts to replace the former Carefree Theatre in West Palm Beach with a multi-theatre mixed-use development. In 2016, he acquired Chateau de Chausse, a 135-acre vineyard and winery near St. Tropez, and last year was named Chairman of the Board of FIAF (French Institute Alliance Francaise), the leading French cultural center in the United States. Cohen’s most recent purchases include both Avenue Magazine and Landmark Theatres, an indie chain that specializes in foreign and independent films.
