The new Willow Theatre spring season brings a collection of inspired shows and one-of-a-kind musical experiences like no other to our South Florida audiences. Featuring premiere stage productions, colorful feasts for the ears and eyes, & entertaining family performances, there is something for everyone to enjoy straight through to the summer.
In January, Jody Briskey takes the lead role in Garland, In Word and Song, based on Judy Garland’s famous 1961 Carnegie Hall Concert, presented by Black Box Booking (Jan 26-Feb 11). Acts of the past come back around in The Playgroup LLC’s comedy All Together Now (Mar 2-11). Broward Stage Door Theatre celebrates the music of the quintessential rock band March 16-25 with Imagine: a Beatles Retrospective. In April, Curtain Call Playhouse presents the longest running musical in the world, The Fantasticks (Apr 6-15).
The musical performances this spring will delight audiences as King Guys: The Soundtrack of a Generation celebrates the music of the Great Depression (Jan 14), while Johnny Wild and the Delights return with authentic country flair for A Night at the Opry (Feb 24-25). New this year, The Electrostrings by Monty Bloom Ensembles plays modern pop, classical and remixes on electrical instruments on April 22.
Other engagements include:
- Upcycled Cinderella (Mar 30) – This imaginative production brings to life the story of Cinderella through household and recycled items, in a way that will surprise and delight audiences.
- Lesson Plans to Late Night (Apr 27) – A one-man comedy show about Lucas Bohn’s transition from elementary school teacher to national touring comedian.
