Facebook Community Boost is Coming to Miami!

Last November, Facebook announced its Community Boost program, committing to visit 50 U.S. cities to provide training and workshops that will help small businesses, entrepreneurs and job seekers grow their business and develop new digital skills they need to compete in today’s economy.

Facebook recently pledged to train 1 million US business owners and equip more people with the digital skills they need to compete in today’s workplace by 2020, #BoostTogether.

As part of #BoostTogether, Facebook has announced that it will bring Community Boost to Miami on December 18-20!

Florida’s demand for digital skills: When we spoke to small businesses in Florida, more than 8 in 10 told us that when looking to hire employees for their businesses, digital skills were important. We’re seeing in city after city that the future of work is changing and we know that companies like us have a role to play.

In addition, research conducted by Morning Consult and co-sponsored by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Facebook suggests small businesses’ use of social media is creating new opportunities.

In Florida the research found that:

  • 69% of SMBs in Florida surveyed agree that Facebook is an essential tool for their business
  • 61% of SMBs surveyed in Florida say that Facebook has helped them hire additional employees to work at their business
  • 83% of SMBs surveyed in Florida believe that Facebook allows them to find customers in other cities, states or countries
  • 83% of SMBs surveyed in Florida believe an individual’s digital and social media skills are important when hiring, more than those who think where an individual went to school is important

As Facebook’s COO Sheryl Sandberg has said, if we want our economies to grow and our communities to thrive, we need to keep investing in people today. People deserve the support they need to find great jobs and grow their businesses.
