Free HIV Testing in Palm Beach County for National Testing Day

FoundCare, Inc., a nonprofit Federally Qualified Health Center, is offering free HIV tests at multiple locations throughout Palm Beach County in honor of National HIV Testing Day, June 27.

This free event is designed to provide free rapid HIV tests which are confidential and non-evasive. A healthcare professional will use a cheek swab during the painless procedure. Test results are final within minutes.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, more than 1 million people in the United States have HIV and 1 in 7 of them don’t know it. Every 12 minutes, a new infection occurs. In Palm Beach County, more than 8,200 people, or 1 in 170 residents, are living with HIV. The CDC recommends everyone between the ages of 13 and 64 get tested at least once as part of routine healthcare, but more at-risk individuals should be tested at least once a year.

HIV treatment can keep individuals healthy for many years and reduce the risk of transmitting the virus. Staying educated and getting tested are the two most powerful weapons against HIV.

FoundCare offers HIV testing during normal business hours at their locations year-round, but the organization is bringing special attention to this important day of national observance. Appointments are available; however, walk-ins are always welcome.
