Girl Scout Cookies: More Than Just a Tasty Treat

When are cookies more than just a tasty treat? When they are Girl Scout Cookies! From January 21st through February 14th, the simple purchase of Thin Mints, Samoas or any one of the eight delicious varieties provides an important ingredient for leadership by helping Girl Scouts across South Florida develop five key skills: Goal Setting, Decision Making, Money Management, People Skills and Business Ethics.

Also back again this year are the gluten-free Toffee-Tastic, a crispy, buttery cookie with delicious toffee bits. Cookies are still only $4 a box, with the exception of the gluten-free Toffee-Tastic, which are just $5 a box. 000000000000000000000001119_Caroline and Steve Harless_038_KNM

This is the second year Girl Scouts will be able to use technology to enhance their cookie sale experience. Digital Cookie 2.0 expands girls’ ability to take their sale “on the go” through a new mobile app, which replicates the transactional elements of the girl’s website, putting control of the sale, from customer contact to completion of the order, squarely in her hands. With this engaging new technology, girls who participate will learn skills to help put them ahead of the curve when entering the workforce, and customers can feel good about supporting girls’ STEM education while purchasing their favorite Girl Scout Cookies.

The $700 million Girl Scout Cookie Sale Program is the largest girl-led business in the country and generates immeasurable benefits for girls, their councils and communities nationwide. Locally, Girl Scouts will strive to reach a goal of selling 1.5 million boxes. Last year more than 6,600 girls honed their sales pitch and earned more than $990,000 for their troops. 0ne hundred sixty four girls joined the Cookie Extreme Team which means they sold more than 1,000 boxes of cookies! Twenty-two of those girls achieved Cookie CEO status by selling 2015 or more boxes of cookies.
