Susan and Jim Collins as well as Cheryl Gowdy are residents of West Palm Beach and have selflessly been investing their time and talents in the community for decades.
Because of their generosity, they will all three be honored at an upcoming event, À Votre Santé (To Your Health), benefitting FoundCare, Inc., a federally-qualified health center based in West Palm Beach that treats everyone in the community regardless of socioeconomic or insurance status.
“This year we have chosen to honor Susan and James Collins and Cheryl Gowdy at À Votre Santé,” said Yolette Bonnet, CEO of FoundCare. “Mr. Collins has been a member of our Board of Directors for more than 10 years, and we would not be as successful as we are without his input. In addition, he and his wife have always been steadfast supporters of the organization, for which we are grateful. Ms. Gowdy is known for her philanthropy and dedication to the community, and together with the late Alfred Fiandaca, she forged an important place in À Votre Santé event history. We are honored that these exceptional individuals have chosen to share their intellect, talent and generosity with FoundCare, and we are pleased to be able to give back to them in some small way through this recognition.”
Ms. Gowdy has been involved with FoundCare for about a decade after falling in love with the organization during a tour of the facility. She has a storied career in the area, starting by working in radio at WEAT with her father in 1974. She started Gowdy International, a company which went on to help grow several nonprofits in the area, including the Palm Beach Zoo and Amory Arts Center. She went on to help establish the Curt Gowdy State Park in Wyoming. Named for her father and legendary sportscaster, the land honors Gowdy’s family name and encourages spending time outdoors. Curt Gowdy was known as the voice of the Boston Red Sox and worked for NBC in the 1960s and 70s.
Susan and Jim Collins have dedicated their lives to giving back. Along with their work with FoundCare, they have a long history of giving back, including several board positions and donations. Mr. and Mrs. Collins say FoundCare matches up with their passion to care for the most vulnerable in Palm Beach County, and they are excited to be a part of this year’s event.
