Susan G. Komen South Florida, the community’s most respected and knowledgeable organization dedicated to the fight against breast cancer, is proud to announce the addition of Josh Hirsch. Hirsch, who has worked in the Palm Beach County nonprofit community since 2006, will serve as the director of mission and communications.
“We are incredibly excited to have Josh join our team,“ shared Kate Watt, executive director of Susan G. Komen South Florida. “Josh’s expertise will help us grow our mission-based work as the community’s first-responder for breast cancer, and ensure we are reaching all of our communities with life-saving information.”
Hirsch has an extensive background in social media, digital communications, and marketing. He will oversee the organization’s mission-driven activities to increase breast health education, screenings and treatment to improve health outcomes for people in our community and reduce the number of breast cancer deaths, coordinate marketing efforts, and will grow outreach in communities lacking services.
“I am honored to work with Komen and contribute to the realization of a world without breast cancer,” shared Hirsch. “It is extremely rewarding to educate and empower women and men to take charge of their breast health, and to provide care and resources for patients and loved ones who have nowhere else to turn.”
In addition to marketing and mission activities, Hirsch will utilize his skills to assist Komen in grant research and writing, individual giving, special event planning, and stewardship and cultivation of donors.
Hirsch currently serves as Treasurer on the Board of Directors for the Association of Fundraising Professionals and will become President-Elect beginning in January 2019. He is a member of Leadership Palm Beach County Class of 2017. He has spoken nationally on social media and has had numerous articles published in professional journals.
Hirsch has a Certificate in Strategic Fundraising and Philanthropy from Bay Path College. He received a Master of Science in Family, Youth and Community Sciences from the University of Florida and received a Bachelor of Science in Advertising from the University of Florida. He resides in Boynton Beach with his wife Alyssa and children Micah and Dylan.
