The Museum of Discovery and Science’s auxiliary organization, Friends of MODS, is hosting the 4th Annual BFF (Building Fantastic Futures) Luncheon to benefit the Museum’s special internship programs on May 10, 2017 at the Tower Club Fort Lauderdale, located at 100 SE 3rd Avenue, 28th Floor, Fort Lauderdale, 33394. The Master of Ceremonies will be Kavita Channe from NFL & Fox Sports and host of South Florida’s VIP TV and panelist on the Jacksonville daytime talk show, The Chat. The Luncheon is co-chaired by Deborah Madden, of Gunster and Brendan Griffin of Brown & Brown of Florida, Inc.
In 2013, Friends of MODS adopted the BFF (Building Fantastic Futures) Campaign, an outreach and fundraising effort to provide youth development and internship programs at MODS. These programs help develop basic job skills, discover career aptitudes, enrich STEM education and build a better future for the youth in our communities. 100% of proceeds raised at the 4th Annual BFF Luncheon, will benefit this campaign.
Museum President/CEO Kim Cavendish said, “The Building Fantastic Futures Luncheon is a wonderful event supporting the BFF Campaign fundraising effort, which helps to develop job and career skills while building a positive future for our youth through internship programs at the Museum of Discovery and Science.”
In addition to providing job experience and mentorship opportunities, the Museum offers a stimulating, supportive work environment that can positively shape the interns’ attitudes toward science, education, career and life choices. These program help prepare these children and young adults for future employment, either at the Museum or elsewhere. It also equips them with tools and self-confidence to become productive adults after the internship program.
