Legendary Celebrity Photographer Rose Hartman to Make Appearance During Photo Exhibition and Film Screening Showcasing Her Life’s Work

Serving as the season’s official kickoff of exhibitions to be held at The Nathan D. Rosen Museum Gallery, the Adolph & Rose Levis Jewish Community Center will present “Art in the Arthouse,” a series of 14 iconic photographs by Hartman, on view beginning today, September 25 through October 22, 2017. The Gallery is located within the Levis JCC Phyllis & Harvey Sandler Center at 21050 95th Avenue in Boca Raton. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 am – 4:00 pm and Sunday by appointment.

For more than 30 years, Rose Hartman has photographed the rich, the famous and the stylish in some of the most legendary settings of New York nightlife, from Studio 54 to the Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute Gala.

Hartman’s photos have been published in publications such as Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Vanity Fair, The New York Times and Art & Auction, and have been exhibited in museums and galleries around the world, including the Whitney Museum, Lincoln Center, Pucci Gallery, and others.

On the exhibit’s final day, Sunday, October 22, Hartman will personally lead a gallery tour and reception at 5:30, followed at 6:30 by a special screening of the film, “The Incomparable Rose Hartman,” along with its director, Otis Mass. The film, which is presented by the Levis JCC’s Boca Raton Jewish Film Festival,  held its world premiere in 2016 at SXSW in Austin, Texas, to press accolades and rave reviews. Interviews with Donna Karan, Carolina Herrera and other legendary figures are featured throughout the 71-minute documentary.  Cost to attend the reception and screening is $20 per person, with free admission to patrons of the Boca Raton Jewish Film Festival.

“This is such an incredible opportunity for art and film lovers in our community and our Levis JCC and Festival patrons,” said Ellen Safran, director of the Boca Raton Jewish Film Festival. “Rose has a long and storied career, and we’re thrilled she’ll be here to share some of her fascinating experiences with us.”
