The[email protected] campaign includes a summer reading program that encourages the entire family to read with incentivized programs, unlimited free events and activities for all ages, and nutritious free lunches for kids and teens. The seven-week program takes place June 11 – July 31 with a multitude of new activities, lectures, classes, games and more. The library is the perfect summer destination for family staycation days, rainy days with kids, gatherings with friends, or quality time with grandparents, offering an endless array of learning and fun for everyone.
Summer Reading Program
To keep kids from falling into the dreaded “summer slide,” the Mandel Public Library of West Palm Beach makes reading a priority so local students can keep up and even advance in their schooling. To help kids exercise this brain muscle during the summer, the library invites kids and teens (preschool through high school) to read for exciting prizes. By keeping a reading log with the recommended reading times, kids and teens will receive a free best-selling book each week and be entered into a weekly gift card drawing.
Adults can also get in on summer reading and enter for their own weekly gift card prizes. The library encourages adults to model this important behavior for the children in the lives. And those who are kid-free can start a book club with friends or meet other booklovers through the program.
The free gift books for the Summer Reading program are donated by the West Palm Beach Library Foundation, which supports the vital and valued community programming at the library. The foundation will give away over 1600 books this summer and encourages kids to keep these books and start a personal library that will foster a love of reading for years to come.
