Competitive eating isn’t only a man’s game. Quite the contrary, in fact. For many years, eating has been one of the most universal of sporting endeavors, where the only thing that matters is how much you consume, and how quickly you do it.
This week, we profile a woman whose iron stomach is almost as formidable as her winning smile. A woman who can eat you out of house and home, and then wonder if there’s any more food. A woman who is the top ranked female eater; Molly Schuler!
What’s your favorite food? It’s a Toss up between the salad bar and a greasy cheeseburger
How did you get started in eating competitions? Someone bet me I could not eat a 5 lb burger challenge at a local grill. Seriously snowballed very quickly.
There seem to be many different styles of eating in competition. What is your philosophy on eating? Most contests I do are picnic style so no dunking or squishing and such. I have learned to swallow most foods whole. Huge advantage.
Of all the events you’ve competed in, which is your favorite? I love the Philadelphia Wingbowl and anything to do with steak and burgers.
Did you enjoy your time in the Palm Beaches? I just bought 4 cases of creamed corn
Does that count ️
Can you tell us a little bit about your previous experience in competitive eating? I’m the number one independent female eater in the world. I’ve long only 4 times in 4 years placing 2nd all 4 times. I like to travel fast and efficiently so I may piggyback a few events. I’ve easily done well over 250 restaurant challenges and hold MULTIPLE records for speed and quantity.
What is the funniest thing to happen to you in your career? I’d have to say the multiple game shows I’ve done and screwed up on . I have no shame.
What advice would you give to up and coming eaters interested in competition? Not to swallow more than you can handle.
What’s your next eating challenge? I’ll be in the D.C. Area for quite a bit for a couple of contests and I’ll travel up the coast.
Anything else you’d like to add? Pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza. Ever.
Of course, the corn eating contest is not the only eating challenge in the Palm Beaches. Become a food fighter in your own right by entering the Pizza Ball Challenge at Mizner Pizzeria in Boca Raton. Do you have what it takes to make it onto the Wall of Balls?
Palm Beach Happening will be profiling one professional eater a week in advance of their “Super Bowl,” the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest in Coney Island, New York. We invite the competitors of the IFOCE to contact us if you have the intestinal fortitude to be profiled here, as a true Master of Mastication!
