Planned Parenthood to host Tradition of Choice Luncheon

Planned Parenthood is thrilled to welcome supporters to the sold out 28th Annual Tradition of Choice Luncheon on January 17, 2019 at the Cohen Pavilion at the Kravis Center.

“We believe a woman’s body belongs to them and them alone and only a woman – and never a politician – can be in charge of making decisions about a woman’s body,” said Lillian Tamayo, President/CEO of Planned Parenthood of South, East and North Florida. “Today, the threat to a woman’s control of her own body is the greatest it has been since Roe, both in Florida and across the country. That is why this event is so important.”

Speakers will include: Lillian Tamayo, President/CEO of Planned Parenthood of South, East and North Florida; Ruth Bader Ginsberg biographer, Irin Carmon; national President of Planned Parenthood, Dr. Leana Wen; and Diane Macias, Planned Parenthood’s Peer Education Coordinator in Broward County.

Keynote speaker, Irin Carmon, is a national reporter at MSNBC. She is also a Visiting Fellow in the Program for the Study of Reproductive Justice at Yale Law School. She will talk about Notorious RBG: The Life and Times of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a biography of the Supreme Court Justice Carmon co-authored with Shana Knizhnik.

The roughly 700 in attendance will also get to hear from Dr. Leana Wen. Dr. Wen is the new President of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America and the Planned Parenthood Action Fund. She is the first physician in nearly 50 years to lead Planned Parenthood.

Funds raised at the Tradition of Choice Luncheon benefit Planned Parenthood’s lifesaving preventive health care which includes cancer screenings, family planning, and testing and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases; as well as sexual health education programs for parents and teens in the South Florida area.
