Today, Holly DressON NOT Holly DressOFF, author of #30DifferentMicrophonesIn30days, as well as the founder of the #PauseReflectMoveForward movement, brings us the eighteenth edition of our continuing series, “Poetry with Purpose.“
The leafless trees
The cold air
Just isn’t fair
You don’t understand why
We have to do what we can to get by
Eating ice cream
Or even toking
Won’t take away the pain
Think about what you have to gain
Not what you’ve lost
You’ll get caught
In an even bigger storm
Find your norm
Since the day you’ve been born
You’ve been fighting to be you
Also having to listen to others tell you what to do
It is your choice
We must use our voice
Because when you take a step back
To look at the bigger picture
Can be weighed on a richter
Isn’t as foggy as you think it is
