Sugar Sand Park is looking for talented youth, adult and family filmmakers for 7th Annual Kids’ Spooky Film Festival

Sugar Sand Park Community Center is searching for the best and brightest filmmakers to create family-friendly films for the 7th Annual Kids’ Spooky Film Festival.  The festival will coincide with the 14th year of Shriek Week, the Community Center’s annual Halloween event, running October 19, 20, 25, 26, and 27.

The Boca Raton Public Library is offering participants the use of the Downtown Library Discovery Studio’s editing software on selected Saturdays in August and September. You do not need a library card and an experienced staff member will be on hand to help.

Prizes will be awarded for the best youth (ages 12-17), family, and adult-created film.  Formats may include live action, animation, and digital comic books.  The films will be judged by a panel of industry professionals.  All films are due in person to the Community Center or postmarked by September 30, 2018.  Prizes will be announced this summer.

“The Kids’ Spooky Film Festival is a great opportunity for amateur filmmakers of all ages to get behind the camera and involve their friends and family.  It makes for a great summer project.” Stefanie Ouellette, Booking Coordinator, explains, “Last year, we had a lot of fantastic submissions, and we can’t wait to see what our 7th year brings!”

Fans can watch and vote for their favorite films online October 1-31 for the People’s Choice Award.  Selected films will be shown in the Willow Theatre during Shriek Week while patrons are waiting in the queue for the Haunted House Tours.  Awards and prizes will be presented at a November ceremony at Sugar Sand Park Community Center.
