When you think of Daytona, what comes to mind? The world famous beach? The speedway? The pier? Maybe even the Boardwalk? All of those things and more can be enjoyed within a couple miles of Daytona Lagoon; a family entertainment complex across the street from the OceanWalk Shoppes.
You’ll notice we didn’t immediately call it a waterpark. There are a few reasons for that. The first of which is that, although the waterpark dominates most of the area, it also features a large and modern video arcade, mini-golf, a ropes course, laser tag, go karts, and even a ropes course!
As we stated, though, the big draw is the wet side of the park. There are five slide complexes(four currently operating,) a lazy river, and wave pool. Of those, the most family friendly of them all are Poseidon’s Pass, featuring three unique tube slides; and the Activity Center, which is basically a playground with water features and slide elements. The two wilder slide towers are Blackbeard’s Revenge, which is a toboggan style enclosed twisty slide; and Adventure Mountain, which features two fully enclosed body slides. Work continues on Kraken’s Conquest, which was damaged in last year’s active hurricane season.
The park is fun for, as they say, children of all ages. Our party consisted of two forty somethings, and a twenty something, and all of us had a great time. They have a full food and drink menu, and we took full advantage of the bar service. Their drinks are strong, and reasonably priced.
We were also given the opportunity to take advantage of their new cabanas. These small, semi-private seating areas are all the rage in the waterpark world, and for good reason. For around $100, a party of up to six can enjoy complimentary water, a free safe, and waitstaff service throughout the day. It is a perk that can make the day a lot more manageable, to say the least!
We’d like to thank the management and staff of Daytona Lagoon for their hospitality, and highly recommend the park to anyone looking for a fun way to spend the day on Daytona Beach!
