WMNF presents JEFF TWEEDY Live at Tampa Theatre

WMNF 88.5 FM is proud to present Jeff Tweedy LIVE to the Theatre’s historic stage at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 14.

Following the release of Tweedy’s first solo album of entirely new original material, WARM, on Nov. 30, the Grammy award-winner known for his work with Wilco and Uncle Tupelo kicks off a spring tour that’s already selling out dates across the country (see attached press release for album details and tour dates).

WARM is one of the most joyful, celebratory, infectious collections of songs I’ve heard in a long time,” writes George Saunders in the liner notes for the album. “It’s intimate and yet vast and feels lovingly made, by actual people, in some particular place, and not inside a computer. As I was listening, I kept picturing a tight little cabin in the woods somewhere (the woods of Chicago?) under a big yellow moon, with four or five Jeffs in there all playing different instruments, and Spencer on drums, and Susie and Sammy are there too, and there’s a fire going, and a feeling of love and discovery and fondness in the smoky air.”

The Tampa Theatre tour stop will also feature special guest James Elkington. After initially making his name as a collaborator alongside Tweedy, Steve Gunn, Richard Thompson, and others, the British-born, Chicago-based guitarist and vocalist has developed his own style of introspective, harmonically nuanced songs heavily informed by traditional and progressive folk of the ’60s and ’70s.

Tickets are $50 / $40 (plus applicable service fees) and will go on sale at 10:00 a.m. this Friday, Nov. 30, at the Tampa Theatre Box Office, located at 711 N. Franklin Street, and online at TampaTheatre.org.
