The WPB Comic Crawl brings out the superhero in everyone!

On Sunday, July 16, dozens of comic fans (as well as fans of adult beverages, to be honest) gathered along Clematis Street in downtown West Palm Beach to enjoy the company of like minded individuals at the annual Comic Crawl. This event, which was sponsored in part by Black Coral Rum and Tito’s Vodka, encouraged participants to dress in their favorite comic inspired garb and party like a member of Suicide Squad while visiting four of the best restaurant/bars on the strip.

For only $15 in advance, guests were able to enjoy five beverages as well as however many others they wished to imbibe.  The participating establishments were Roxy’s, Banko Cantina, Lynora’s, and Roxy’s Rooftop. Each one had a slightly different feel, and the crawl got bigger as the afternoon wore on.

Sorry for the slightly blurry picture, but he was moving SO FAST!

Most of the venues featured a DJ, but Lynora’s also included a live electric fiddle player who literally lit up the place! We hope to profile him on Palm Beach Happening soon, and might even have him perform at a future Happening Event!

The final stop served as an after party, where you could party with and have photo ops with Blake Foster who played the Blue Turbo Ranger on TV, as well as music by DJ Tre, the official DJ of the Power Rangers! There was also a $500 cash costume contest.

Speaking of superheroes, be sure to check out our latest Storytime for Grownups column, featuring a listing of some of the finest heroes in the comic universe. We’re also working on a listing featuring the most wretched scum and villainous characters ever!

Also, at the end of the month, fans of all things comics, sci-fi, and more will gather in Fort Lauderdale for Supercon.

We’d like to thank the organizers of the WPB Comic Crawl for having us out, and look forward to the next event!
